Grown Up Christmas List

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies
Well, I'm all grown-up now
Can you still help somehow?
I'm not a child, but my heart still can dream

So here's my lifelong wish
My grown-up Christmas list
Not for myself, but for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
Every man would have a friend
That right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list

What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in that blind belief can we ever find the truth

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
Every man would have a friend
That right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list
This is my only lifelong wish
This is my grown-up Christmas list

Heard this in my iPod the other day.. one of the nice secular Christmas songs.. Well, guess the composer intended to reflect on the state of the world, the loss of childlike innocence, and how much people have suffered... Definitely can identify with some of the lyrics, mainly those in the chorus. But at the same time, also know that its not possible anymore... "no more lives torn apart, that wars would never start"? thats like so impossible in the state of the world now.. lives have been torn apart by sin and by other humans ever since the Fall in Genesis...

Yet, there is a glimpse of hope... and for us, this hope is a sure hope.

Our hope: "our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ" - Philippians 3:20. When His Kingdom comes, under His rule, no more lives will be torn apart, no more wars will start, He will heal our hearts, and of course, right will always win. Meanwhile, as we share the gospel to more people, we participate in the advancement of His Kingdom's establishment in the hearts of those around us.. :)

Well, really thank God the wednesday paper was ok, the first QM paper that all the questions more or less can do.... Thank God for His grace and thanks everyone for your support and encouragement.... last paper on monday!
